The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water recently undertook public consultation on the Draft National Roadmap for protecting and conserving 30% of Australia鈥檚 land by 2030. SLR appreciates the Australian Government鈥檚 proactive approach to adopt the聽Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF), as well as Australia鈥檚 commitments to the 2030 and 2050 targets that form the backbone of the GBF. SLR is broadly supportive of the proposed roadmap and is pleased to have submitted our comments for review.
SLR considers the Draft National Roadmap to be a great step in identifying the process for protecting the unique ecological heritage of this continent. Our submission highlights a few key areas where deficiencies in the document limit its effectiveness as a tool for helping SLR, and the businesses we partner with, to be able to deliver on Australia鈥檚 GBF commitments. Ensuring that the roadmap includes specific and defined targets, with clear information and guidance, will dramatically improve the practicality of this document across the wide array of industries our clients represent.
