Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA)
Our team has considerable knowledge and experience in advising clients on the capacity of existing landscapes to accommodate new development, and in applying a robust evidence-based process to identify potential impacts arising from this development.

Overview
Our experts have a diversity of skills and experience in the design, assessment and planning of the natural and built environment, on projects at all scales. Our combined experience in landscape design, masterplanning, tendering and construction administration, also complements and assists in verifying our assessment of visual and landscape effects within the natural and built environment.聽

Landscape and visual impact assessment鈥
The team has produced Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments for a wide range of energy, and infrastructure developments, which range from on and offshore wind farms, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and solar projects, to electricity transmission grid infrastructure and gas fired power stations.
-
Visual amenity reports
We regularly prepare assessments in coastal, urban and rural environments, ranging from broadscale residential development, residential, commercial and industrial buildings to quarries and landfill sites. These assessments support new residential development, recreation and leisure projects, and sporting stadia.
-
Scenic amenity studies
Our preparation of scenic amenity studies has evaluated and classified the scenic qualities and sensitivity of protected areas. This includes the potential effects of urban development on the intrinsic character of specific locations which rely on the retention of these natural and scenic qualities.
-
Expert witness services鈥
SLR has the capability to provide expert witness services in respect of landscape and visual matters. Our experience in local authority hearings and Court Appeals ensures that our assessments are prepared robustly should they require defending during this process. Our experts have given evidence at appeals into a wide range of developments acting on behalf of both the assessing authority and the developer.
