Challenge

The Oakdale East Industrial Estate (OEIE) is a major logistics and industrial precinct developed by Goodman in Eastern Creek, a key location in Western Sydney鈥檚 strategic freight and transport corridor. The precinct supports high value warehousing and distribution facilities and contributes significantly to local economic growth and employment in the region. Given the site鈥檚 proximity to residential areas, key transport infrastructure, and areas of environmental sensitivity, effective and ongoing stakeholder engagement has been a critical element of the project鈥檚 success.

Solution

Our team worked with Goodman to facilitate stakeholder engagement for the OEIE project through the establishment and ongoing management of the Community and Agency Consultation Groups. These groups bring together local residents, community representatives, local and state government agencies, and Goodman project staff to ensure a transparent, two-way dialogue throughout the development lifecycle. SLR has been responsible for the following:

• Planning, coordinating, and facilitating bi-monthly or quarterly Community and Agency Group meetings.
• Preparing accessible and engaging meeting materials, agendas, and presentation content.
• Managing stakeholder communications and addressing community concerns.
• Documenting meeting outcomes and ensuring feedback loops are maintained with all participants.
• Supporting Goodman in meeting its stakeholder engagement obligations under planning conditions.

Impact

The ongoing facilitation of these groups has fostered trust and transparency between Goodman and the local community. It has also supported constructive relationships with regulatory and planning authorities, provided a mechanism for addressing potential issues early, and ensured that community perspectives are considered in project planning and implementation.
